Power of a Woman (the Colour Purple) - 1724 Words
The Power of Women Every country on earth is affected by a common issue ââ¬â discrimination. Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially in regards to race, age, or sex. Such an issue began to affect the world in the seventeenth century, and has continued till this day. African Americans were first targeted by the Caucasian race due to the significant difference within their skin tone. In the Colour Purple by Alice Walker, people are faced with several types of discrimination: sexism, domestic abuse and racism. Discrimination is one of the most devastating events that mankind may have to potentially face. In the seventeenth century, sexism was leading this era. The Sociologic Relationship Between Population, Socioal Structure and the Individual Sociology is the scientific study of human social activity. In the effort to study human social activity sociologists brake it down into objects of analysis. The three objects of analysis are population, social structure, and the individual. Each can be differentiated but each is also integrally related to the other two. As an object of analysis sociologists defines population as an aggregate of people in a geographical area that has size and longevity. The size has a lower limit of two and no upper maximum. Longevity varies and has a lower limit of zero with no known upper limit. Populations are by definition made up of individuals. The studyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦A social system is defined as two or more roles tied together by relationships of interdependence. A role is a patterned repetitive set of behaviors. An example of a role is an occupation. There are various categories of social systems like formal organizations that have goals in mind and attempt to achie ve them (ex: nations) or like informal organizations that are less goal oriented as in a community or a family. Human communities provide social systems that serve the function of providing the daily requirements of life to a population. Social systems have four basic types of roles; production of goods and services, distribution of the goods and services, recruitment and training of new members, and control functions. Population affects the roles of the social system. An example of this would be if the birth rate increased then there would be a greater need to train these new people and the recruitment and training role would be affected. The training of an individual to become one of the group is termed socialization and is carried out by church, family, and school, among other sources. Individuals then are Homo Sapiens that vary in sex, age, and lifecycle. Humans have the ability to lay out avenues to achieve a goal and then through thought processes make a choice on which avenue to follow. Humans are differentiated from animals in that all animals can sign (reacting to something) but only

Driving Age Should Be Raised Free Essays
Should homework be banned. Yes, I feel it should be banned because you donââ¬â¢t get any time for yourself, pointless. Because you already get work at school, seriously, home too? It kills trees, waste of time, boring, some parents donââ¬â¢t even get it, it completely stresses you out. We will write a custom essay sample on Driving Age Should Be Raised or any similar topic only for you Order Now Not only you, but the teachers because all they do is grade tests, homework, classwork, and projects. Iââ¬â¢m pretty sure theyââ¬â¢re tired of doing it too. I donââ¬â¢t feel homework necessary. Homework should be banned because it just isnââ¬â¢t useful and wastes time. Homework is pointless because kids do enough work in school and they donââ¬â¢t need more. When they come home they want to chill out, hang out with friends, or do something. Kids are in school for 8 hours a day doing work, other than lunch and recess. Homework is not relevant for kids. I did a survey at school at resource, and a majority of kids say that homework should be banned in school because it is stressful and they procrastinate until the last second. There is no point in homework. It takes away from spending time with family. According to the text with research ââ¬ËHomework Should be Banned,ââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Schools has increased from 9 to 3 with 1 ? hour of recess and lunch to 8:40 to 3:15 with only 30 minutes of lunch and recess. â⬠This quote shows that too much is just too much homework. Also, another reason is that, according to research, some of the smartest countries like Finland and Japan donââ¬â¢t have homework. We can be just as smart as them without homework. Arm Teachers to Stop School Violence Essay Example For Students
Arm Teachers to Stop School Violence Essay Arm Teachers to Stop School Shootings? How often do we open the newspaper or turn on the television and see there has been another school shooting? It seems as though it is happening more and more everyday. Violence in schools seems to be on the rise. And now we are faced with the possibility of weapons willingly going into our schools to protect our children. It is asked should we arm teachers to stop school shootings? I do not believe Arming teachers is a good idea. Teachers should not bring any kind of weapons into the classroom. I am a mother and I hate to think that the person I send my son to everyday could possibly have a gun or another dangerous weapon in her desk or somewhere else in the classroom. I do however believe if schools want armed faculty then they need to hire people that have a strong background with weapons such as armed security officers, former police or military personnel. Those who have experience and are trained to deal with dangerous situations are more likely to handle the problems quicker and more effectively than a person with no history or knowledge of a dangerous confrontation such as a shooting. Also I believe that if students know there are armed trained professionals at their schools it would really make them stop and think twice before deciding to follow through on any violent act they might be planning. Now I do not believe having armed guards will stop school shootings completely but I do think it will cause a decrease in the violence. Stopping school violence has to be an ongoing effort, an effort on everyones part. Teachers are there to focus on and teach our children. They are not trained to deal with extremely violent crimes. And they shouldnt have to be, We need to stand up and say we will not put up with this and we dont have to. We need to push to make our schools safe for our children but arming teachers is not the way to do it. We need to push to have the trained professionals there that will be able to protect the students and the faculty. But arming teachers should not be an option. Bibliography: .
